True Signs you are better than your Competitors, by Brian Newmark

Any business will have competitors. If there is profit or potential in the niche that your business is, you will have a lot of competition. This competition is healthy as it means your niche is good. Use this competition to track your progress and see if you are doing better than your competitors. Analyze it, make reports based on your findings and see how your business is performing next to a targeted competitor.

Here, in this article, we will discuss several points where you can compare and see if you are any better than the rest of the pack.

1) Content:

Judge yourself by the content that you are hosting. Check others on your niche, read their posts from top to bottom without skimming through. See if their articles are informational, easy to read, interesting and are error free. It is always easy to critic someone else’s content compared to the content of your own. So, ask for feedback from your own readers. They are more often than not just “Yes Men” so you need to make it clear that you want a proper feedback and not a positive one. The other way to ask for a proper feedback is to get your site reviewed by a successful blogger and get an assessment report.

2) Check your social shares:

Social media is the ultimate frontier when it comes to measuring success. Compare your blog posts with your competitors and see if you are getting more shares compared to them. Sometimes it is hard to judge on the basis of social shares, but an active blog should get comments and social shares.

3) Sales:

The main target of any business is to make profits. If your profits are more than your competitors, or at least growing in trend compared to others, then it is a sure sign that you are doing better.

4) Feedback:

Customer feedback and response is very important. This feedback is generally available in the comments section of a blog, on the social channels of your business and some people will even take out the time and send you an email with their feedback. However, feedback is something that one must go ahead and seek for himself. Make a survey and send out an email to your customer list. See the feedback that you get. If you are doing well this feedback will be a sign that you are better than your competitors.

5) Technical Aspects:

Things change on the internet quickly. While compatibility was the biggest issue for websites in the past few years, now being responsive has taken its place. If the design, usability and compatibility of your site are better and you have a cell phone app for your business, then surely you are better than your competitors.

6) Network Reach:

While having big numbers in terms of social media followers mean little if they are not engaged, this too can be seen as a sign that you are better than your competitors. At least your customers will think in this way. Facebook’s organic reach has gone down, so little matters for the numbers. However, it will still improve the paid reach. Having numbers and making sure that the followers are real and active is a sign that you are doing better.

7) Brand Presence:

Brand presence is great for any business. It requires a lot of advertisement, good customer care and plenty of time to gain this presence. However, it is all worth it as your customers sees your business differently when they start treating you as a brand. It puts you on the front line and it is you that people mention when talking about the niche you are in. This is a sure sign that you are better than your competitors.

8) Media Coverage:

Things change for the better when you get featured on the mainstream media. This process is not easy, even if there are tools available like HARO for example, still chances of a normal business making its place in any media house is a very big thing. When you do that, you know that you are better than your competition.

9) Influencer Support:

Everyone is already on the social media but what matter is how many people follows them. If a random person is tweeting about your business, it is good but does not add a lot of value. However, when an influencer, say a celebrity follows or tweets you, that mention does make an impact. As a result of it many other tweets and retweets your messages which goes viral and your own follower count starts to increase. Your followers start to value you more and you get a lot of new customers out of this. A mention of this magnitude is a sure sign that you are far better than your com
