5 Important Things to Know For Business Blogging

Business blogging is much more then maintaining an online log of events. It is blogging with a purpose to get more business. Business blogging is effectively a marketing channel to promote and increase the reach or gain more sales and conversions. It all boils down to ROI. There are a number of things that matters in business, like branding, conversions, reputation, fans and followers, reach and spread etc. Business blogging should have a positive effect on all of these factors with the best possible ROI.

1) Content Matters:

When it comes to business blogging it is not the SEO value of content alone that is the priority but the quality of the article itself matters. A poor quality article can reflect poorly on the company. It might rank higher and bring a lot of traffic due to flaws in the search engines but this added traffic won’t help if the reputation of the brand gets hurt by low quality content.

Balance your content requirements. Start with a set of featured content which is otherwise known as the flagship content that builds brand value. This is not the sort of content that is published every day but is published rarely and kept in the prominent positions of your blog and displayed as featured articles. Once you have a set of these ready, keep pushing regular articles to keep the site active.

2) Social Media:

Most content that is any good finds its way into social media at some point of time. For business blogging social media is a wide term. Following are the things that are most important in social media.

  • Catching Influencers – Influencers are people who have a large following. Celebrities, famous people, internet celebrities etc. are the ideal target group. Target your blog posts in a way that they share your content. This is not a one day’s work; one has to build up a connection strong enough to get such a share. Start with basics like follow the target influencer and retweet and share their updates. Try to participate in their conversations and get some recognition. Once you get some sort of recognition, politely ask to share an update of yours. Keep repeating this process.
  • Building your own Profile – Nothing works on the social media unless you have engaging and active profiles yourself. Your social profiles are the ideal launch pads for your content, this is where your business blog posts will take off and get excellent shares and feedback on the social media. Make sure to update you profiles with five to eight updates a day, preferably with images or videos.
  • Following up and staying active – Social media is a place to gain feedback. However, if one is not active enough this feedback space can turn into an insane hotspot for complaints. For business blogging it is important to do reputation management and check their social space for customer relationship.

3) Promotional Budget:

There are many things on the internet that can be achieved for free. You might via luck see some of your posts going viral. Yes, you can fight back and say that you have done hard work and thus you have great content that people like. But the issue with the hard work is that everyone does that already. What sets you apart from the crowd is something that you have to see for yourself. However the easy way out is to buy some advertising in facebook ads, twitter ads or stumbleupon, linkedin reddit and pinterest ads etc. All this is excellent to give you a push every time you wish for it.

4) Integrate you Business:

Once the base is already built, it is time to integrate your business with your blog. Start with email subscription forms and integrate them into the blog. Run giveaways with products related to your business, set a contest trend like #GivingTuesday. From time to time without looking heavily promotional, try to pass out some business related posts along with several other natural posts.

5) Keeping it consistent:

One of those important things about having a blog is that it requires regular updates. Keeping disciplined with the updates helps and with every consistent effort the engagement and the reach of the blog increases. The number of comments, social shares and the reputation of the blog are affected positively with consistent updates.

There are a number of factors that determine effective business blogging. Quality of content, social reach, activity in the comments section and how much you engage with your community are all important factors to take care of. Business blogging is about blogging with a motive which is mostly connected towards getting a sale. So, at the end of the day, most of these factors of business blogging somehow connect you with a conversion at some point or the other.
